Under James Levine's thrilling direction the famous Met Orchestra is at its best in this first installment of Wagner's Ring cycle. From the dark, mysterious beginning in the depths of the Rhine River to the blazing end as the gods cross the rainbow bridge into their new home of Valhalla, this is a searing performance. James Morris is the commanding Wotan, the god who thinks he has everything under control, even as he unwittingly sows the seeds of his own destruction

The great singing actress Nina Stemme gives a heart-wrenching performance in the title role of Strauss's blazing one-act drama, adapted from the ancient Greek myth. Patrice Chéreau's acclaimed production—the last staging he worked on before his death in 2013—also stars Waltraud Meier as Klytämnestra, Elektra's nightmare-haunted mother, Adrianne Pieczonka as Chrysothemis, her sister, and Eric Owens as Orest, their brother, whose return home brings their family story to a terrifying climax. Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the monumental and highly influential score
A day of real madness, or Le nozze Di Figaro( Visual )

1 edition published in 2006 in French and held by 33 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Opera buffa in four acts (1786), Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte after Le Mariage de Figaro by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais Mozart's famous opera is here given a modern interpretation while staying faithful to the original score and libretto, which proves the timeless nature of this story, originally written for theater by Beaumarchais. The action takes place in the wedding office of a city hall. Actors are dressed in modern costumes and use our everyday life accessories: Susanna listens to her walkman during Cherubino's aria and Count Almaviva uses his recliner as a seduction tool! The most striking element of this staging is perhaps the "recitativist," a concept invented Christoph Marthaler to transmit the importance of Da Ponte's texts. Recitatives are not played on harpsichord but on an electronic keyboard that is on the stage and alternates from the classical sound of the harpsichord to the harmonica, accordion or even sound effects
