Chandigarh redux : Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Jane B. Drew, E. Maxwell Fry by Werner Feiersinger( Book )

3 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 81 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Chandigarh, built in the 1950s to a scheme by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret with their team of international and Indian architects, until the present day is regarded an icon of modernist urban design. Austrian artist Werner Feiersinger has recently travelled to the legendary capital of India's federal state Punjab. Inspired by Ernst Scheidegger's book Chandigarh 1956, he has put together a vast pictorial account of the city's famous architecture today. This new book features some 300 of Feiersinger's photographs. With the keen eye of a sculptor, he shows the expressive sculptural qualities of the buildings. He captures the place's vivid atmosphere and virtuosity and illustrates its continuous topicality. This artistic approach clearly distinguishes this book from previous publications on Chandigarh, most of which are of merely documentary character. The essay by Austrian architect Andreas Vass reflects on Chandigarh's history, its architectural qualities, and its future development

Renzo Piano Building Workshop : Architektur und Baudetails = architecture and construction details by Renzo Piano Building Workshop( Book )

2 editions published in 2018 in German and held by 22 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Works by Renzo Piano are distinguished by a unique interplay of functional, technical and aesthetic aspects. An architect with no recognisable trademark style, Renzo Piano has nevertheless designed some of the most famous buildings in the world: among them the Pompidou Centre, the headquarters of the New York Times, the Shard Tower in London, the Whitney Museum in New York and the recently completed Palace of Justice in Paris. Renowned as a master of construction technology, the Pritzker Prize winner uses a wide variety of materials and construction methods to create buildings whose designs are heavily inspired by location and function. This monograph now presents 13 of his works, all previously published by DETAIL. Extensive project documentation is accompanied by numerous photos, plans and construction details

Roman Ondák : measuring the universe by Roman Ondák( Book )

1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Tiré du site Internet de JRP/Ringier: "Artist's book. In this volume the Slovak artist Roman Ondák (*1966) has brought together some of his works that deal with time, measurement, boundaries, and experience. Alongside a complete documentation of the exhibition "Measuring the Universe," where the museum attendants checked the body size of the visitors throughout its duration, one also finds "Failed Fall" (2008), a greenhouse floor filled with dried autumn leaves, "Across that Place" (2008), the story of the no longer existing Canal Zone by the Panama Canal, and "Concealed Episode" (2007), which recounts the fictional escape to Miami South Beach of a parachutist from Cuba. Whether working with installation, photography, drawing, or performance, Ondák underpins his work with processes, embedding them into the course of an action. The action extends over time, transcribes a scenario rather than explaining it, and can be attached to radically minimalist objects, or - as in this case - to extremely narrative books. Anything that plays a role in his work has its place in this book : the displacement of people and places, presence and absence, the economy of time."
Essays on Architecture and City Planning by Hermann Czech( Book )

3 editions published between 2016 and 2019 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Hermann Czech belongs to the small group of architects that are equally prolific in theory and design. Over the course of six decades, he has created a much recognised body of built work and projects and also developed an architectural theory based on profound knowledge of philosophy and architectural history. His writings enable a clearer understanding of the built environment and thereby a sound basis for decisions affecting its future. Czech grapples with local and universal topics and spars with his colleague and fellow compatriot Hans Hollein. He analyses mannerism and calls attention to underestimated works of architecture. He delves as well into questions addressed by intellectuals and, like them, maintains an ambivalent relationship to modernism, and he makes a strong call to embrace reason over style. Czech also applies his profound knowledge of the works of Hegel, Kant, Wittgenstein, and Adorno to pressing architectural topics. Moreover, he recognises that architects often lack the basic framework necessary for meaningful discourse
Italomodern 1 : architecture in northern Italy, 1946-1976 by Martin Feiersinger( Book )

2 editions published in 2016 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Vienna-based architect Martin Feiersinger and his brother, artist and photographer Werner Feiersinger, have traveled extensively across Northern Italy in order to document the region's modern architecture after World War II. Italomodern 1 and 2 are the result of their travels, the most authoritative survey of Northern Italy's architecture between 1946 and 1976. In their study, they have focused exclusively on distinctive buildings rather than entire urban structures, and they have selected the included projects as exemplary representations of neorealism, rationalism, brutalism, and organic styles. Italomodern 1 features 84 buildings and Italomodern 2 contains an additional 132 buildings. All of them are represented with photographs, a concise text, the exact address, and selected floor plans, sections, or elevations. The images present a subjective point of view, showing each building in its present state. An appendix provides rich information on the architects and other selected buildings and further reading for each firm. The books offer a glimpse into an era when society's aspirations found expression in the built environment. Each volume is self-contained and also makes an insightful and useful guide for architecture lovers and travelers

Herzog & de Meuron : Architektur und Baudetail = Herzog & de Meuron : architecture and construction details by Herzog & de Meuron( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in German and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
