At first, things went well for Godunov, but when the Russian people began to believe he had killed Ivan the Terrible's son in order to gain the throne, an alliance sprang up against the new Czar. Events continued to spin out of control as a young monk was presented as the son Godunov had supposedly killed. Now he was openly accused of failing an assassination attempt, which seems to be even worse than succeeding. In addition to these woes, Boris Godunov began to suffer serious health problems
Andrej Rublev by Andrej Tarkovskij( Visual )

2 editions published between 1999 and 2006 in Russian and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Ivan's childhood by Andreĭ Arsenʹevich Tarkovskiĭ( Visual )

5 editions published between 1962 and 2011 in Russian and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Director Tarkovsky in this early feature film went further down the path of modernism than any of his contemporaries and yet it remains his most conventional film. Tarkovsky combines surrealism and the stark mud and filth of warfare, to portray Ivan's struggle to come to terms with the horror of World War II. The heroism of Ivan and his cohorts is as unmistakable as the bleak waste of human life. Even though the film adhered to the basic state tenents of heroic Soviet sacrifice in the face of the Nazi war machine, Tarkovsky's film attracted criticism from Moscow. At the center of the film is the relationship between an army captain and his intelligence operative, the boy Ivan, who spends his nights infiltrating German positions on the Eastern front. The last scene in Berlin where Ivan's commander discovers a file detailing Ivan's capture and execution by German forces, is simultaneously sentimental and chilling. The film ends with the sobering fact that on the Russian front, even children were considered adults and dealt with as such in this war of attrition
