(Critical) This program presents an interview with an outstanding geriatric nursing leader. Her presentation is accurate and well delivered. The program concentrates on psychological and physical assessment of the institutionalized elderly and skims over sociologic assessment. Chronic brain syndrome and depression are discussed as the greatest psychological problems of this group. Their etiology and dynamics are accurate are presented, but much more is known. Most time is spent on chronic brain syndrome as it manifests itself in disorientation. Although there is more to it, the presentation is appropriate to the time allotment. Nursing assessment and intervention are emphasized; passing mention is made of primary care. This program is a fine aid for those who work with the elderly

in English and held by 16 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
(Critical) This program covers a number of issues involved in patient's rights, including right to information, informed consent, refusal of care, incapacitated patient minors, emergencies, treatment by students, experimentation, privacy, ownership of records and protection from outrageous conduct. Vignettes are used to depict many of these situations. Although these issues are somewhat unconnected and suffer somewhat in clarity and detail, the patient's right to conrol someaspects of his care emerges clearly as a unifying theme. The nurse's role in a conflict between patient and physician is not made clear. Although the vignettes are effective, they are somewhat overdone and sometimes make it difficult to readjust to the more technical, less dramatic discussions which follow. Nevertheless, the program is recommended
