"Contemporary art speaks directly to the important questions of our time as well as to the changing landscape of American identity. By making new ideas, current issues, and forgotten histories visible, living artists show us new perspectives about ourselves and the world around us. As a reflection of contemporary society, the art of our time is relevant to all subject areas and disciplines, and provides teachers and students a rich resource through which to consider new ideas and rethink the familiar. Each program opens with an introduction by a celebrity host (Jane Alexander, Margaret Cho, Merce Cunningham, or John Waters) who, while well known in each of their respective fields of filmmaking, music, and the theatre, is also passionate and knowledgeable about contemporary art. Each one-hour program has been curated like an art exhibition and is loosely structured around a theme that enables viewers, students, and teachers to analyze, compare, and contrast the featured artists and their works. The work presented in the series may cross the thematic boundaries of each program hour and have relevance to more than one theme. The Season Two themes are Stories, Loss & Desire, Humor, and Time."

A perfect home : the bridge project by Do-Ho Suh( Book )

2 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Over the past two years Do Ho Suh and his team of researchers, architects, and designers have generated four fantastical bridge designs that propose ways to connect Seoul, South Korea, and New York City. This conceptual project, which roots back to Do Ho Suh’s first drawings of this inhabitable bridge in 1999, proposes to build a bridge that joins two homes into one, connecting the spatial, temporal, psychological, and cultural distance between Seoul and New York. The project constructs the bridges within a new space of projected desires where economic and structural optimization are not the defining elements of design. His studio’s rigorous and speculative research method has led to the uncovering of a multitude of challenges. Each of the four bridges uses different technologies, structures, and forms to contend with the issues of climate, biodiversity, and human activity."--Publisher's description

"The artists profiled in "Stories" tell tales--autobiographical, fictional, satirical, or fantastical--through architecture, literature, mythology, fairytales, and history. These artists provoke us to think about our own stories, the characters and caricatures, the morals and messages that define our real and imagined lives"--Kanopy
Do Ho Suh : perfect home = Su Doho : pāfekuto hōmu by Do-Ho Suh( Book )

1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The catalogue for Korean sculptor and installation artist Do Ho Suh's exhibition at the 21st Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, this large-format book does ample justice to his work, which deals with the ways we occupy and inhabit public space. His site-specific installations reflect an interest in the malleability of space, both in physical and metaphorical manifestations, addressing links between the individual, collective and anonymous. In this case, he created huge houses using transparent fabric. Full perspectives of these and other works are shown. Includes contributions by curator Hiromi Kurosawa, Yoshikazu Nango and Felicity D. Scott. - from publisher web page
