Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The tape highlights non-corroding materials. It discusses the corrosion mechanisms and requirements and examines the types of corrosion - wet, dry and galvanic, and the typical methods for avoiding corrosion
Reactor physics studies in the GCFR phase-II critical assembly by R. B Pond( )
1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The reactor physics studies performed in the gas cooled fast reactor (GCFR) mockup on ZPR-9 are covered. This critical assembly, designated Phase II in the GCFR program, had a single zone plutonium oxide-uranium dioxide core composition and uranium dioxide radial and axial blankets. The assembly was built both with and without radial and axial stainless steel reflectors. The program included the following measurements: small-sample reactivity worths of reactor constituent materials (including helium); uranium-238 Doppler effect; uranium and plutonium reaction rate distributions; thorium, uranium, and plutonium and reactor kinetics. Analysis of the measurements used ENDF/B-IV nuclear data; anisotropic diffusion coefficients were used to account for neutron streaming effects. Comparison of measurements and calculations to GCFR Phase I are also made
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The tape discusses the techniques used to harden nonferrous metals, including age hardening and strain hardening, and focussing on precipitation hardening for strengthening purposes. It also discusses diffusion mechanism theories and brass twinning
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The tape begins with an introduction on alloptropy of materials and alloptropic transformation in response to changing temperature. It discusses quenching and tempering and the effects of alloying elements during heat treatment. Using the Time Temperature Transformation (TTT) curve, it explains how structure is dependent on temperature and time. It includes a discussion on the Jominy hardenability test
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist ( Visual )
2 editions published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The programme discusses the mechanical properties of metals, focussing on the stress-strain curve. It also discusses the results of tensile tests, hardness tests and impact tests
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist. industrial applications and properties ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The program shows how properties may vary across a phase diagram and the stable forms of non-ferrous metals. It discusses extraction processes and how the non-ferrous metals could be made into usable forms
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The tape introduces what happens when two metals are mixed together by looking at phase equilibrium diagrams and cooling curves. It discusses dendritic segregation, solidification and purification methods, eutectic compositions and the Lever Rule
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist. industrial applications and properties ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The programme outlines the history of steelmaking and the role of carbon and oxygen. It identifies the differences between white cast iron and grey cast iron. Melting, alloying and casting techniques, the use of induction furnace for melting cast iron and the effects of impurities are also discussed
Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist. cold working ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Metallurgy for the non-metallurgist ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Materials characterization is useful in materials selection in design. The tape shows how to characterize materials in terms of the macrostructure, microstructure, sub-micro structure and relate it to mechanical properties of materials. It also discusses elasticity (touching on the stress-strain curve), grain size, effects of temperature and economic, functional and production requirements
