This monograph presents the designer who has combined great attention to the "principle of settlement" with a respect for local architecture, expressed through the use of natural materials. Souta de Moura transforms the figurative elements of classical architecture using a modern sensibility. A minimalist approach and the discreet use of local materials are the essential components of his activity. Among his best-known projects: the Municipal Market in Braga (1980-84), the cultural center for the S.E.C. at Oporto (1981-91), houses at Miramar (1987-91) and Alcanena (1987-92), the patio houses at Matosinhos (1993-99) and the Portuguese pavilion at the Hannover Expo 2000 with Siza (1999). Essays by the authors, along with an interview with Siza, Francisco Tavora and Souto de Moura himself, introduce the architect's work."--Jacket+-+2298689546204ocn799408151book20050.94Távora, Fernando Luís Cardoso Meneses de Tavares eFernando Távora : opera completaHistoryCatalogs141ocn310157597book20090.97Tortelli, GiovanniSanta Giulia, Brescia : dalle domus romane al museo della cittàHistory133ocn246638482book19960.90Bulgarelli, MassimoAll'ombra delle volte : architettura del Quattrocento a Firenze e Venezia+-+6480008933134ocn860561091book20080.93Il SeicentoHistoryPictorial works134ocn251303164book20080.94Istituzioni di ricovero e di educazioneLa nuova residenza alle Zitelle : un centro servizi per gli anziani a Venezia tra giardini e lagunaHistory82ocn044560948book20000.77Michelis, Marco deVenecia : la nueva arquitectura72ocn260081755book19980.96Veneto : itinerari neoclassici : i luoghi, la storia, l'architetturaHistory62ocn799392872book19990.95Venezia : la nuova architetturaHistoryCatalogs54ocn086111299book20060.95Chemollo, AlessandraVersión reducida = Versione ridotta : fotografías de las obras de Siza, Souto de Moura y TávoraHistoryExhibition catalogsExhibition, pictorial works41ocn848965880book2006Hopkins, AnthonyBaldassarre Longhena43ocn860220019book19980.95Olivieri, RinaldoRinaldo Olivieri : il Teatro Camploy a Verona31ocn859912278book2011Colistra, DanieleMasserie fortificate in Calabria : saggi modelli schede22ocn875268555book20120.92Moura, Eduardo Souto deEduardo Souto De Moura : tutte le opereHistory"An extended, updated version of the monograph published in 2003 by Electaarchitettura about the work of the Portuguese architect. The book opens with a transcription of a conversation between Souto de Mura, Álvaro Siza and Fernando Tavora, the first two being pupils of the latter, all three of whom are linked by a unique fellowship underlying their design experience, nourished by the same cultural substratum, but with different results. After this, there are essays by Leoni and Esposito, followed by the designs and buildings, arranged in chapters with different themes. Each chapter is introduced by writings by the Portuguese architect, with the aim of illustrating the content. These texts, supported by historical and critical contributions, make it possible to appreciate the poetic and ideological motivations lying behind the work of the subject of the book. The final chapter focuses on the works completed by the architect since 2003, year of the first publication of the book, up to the present day. Some of the most interesting projects are the two single-family villas at Ponte de Lima, the tower for the Burgo commercial building in Boavista, the Contemporary Art Center at Bragança, the Casa del Cinema Manoel de Oliveira in Porto, the city stadium at Braga, the new metro stations in Porto, the Paula Rego Museum at Cascais, and the Kortrijk crematorium in Belgium. The book has a complete register of works, a biography and a bibliography and is illustrated by photographs taken specially for the publication by Alessandra Chemollo and Fulvio Orsenigo. The book examines every facet of the personality of this protagonist of contemporary architecture and offers considerable scope for understanding the reasons behind the success which Portuguese design culture has enjoyed in recent years" -- Publiarq: publicaciones arquitectura y arte Materia22ocn314688132book20040.94Senzaposa : fotografie di Alessandra Chemollo e Fulvio OrsenigoExhibition catalogs21ocn781189441book20080.95Storia dell'architettura nel Veneto11ocn888562427art1987Boschetti, LorenzaUmnutzung eines Industrieareals : eine Wohnüberbauung auf der Insel Giudecca, Venedig, 198611ocn438639792book20010.92Il piano di attacco austriaco contro Venezia : il territorio, la laguna, i fiumi, i forti e le città dell'anno 1900 : con le schede sulla storia e lo stato attuale delle fortificazioni venezianeMilitary history211ocn057184085book20040.94Senzaposa : fotografie di Alessandra Chemollo e Fulvio OrsenigoExhibition catalogs81ocn073299041book20060.95Chemollo, AlessandraVersión reducida = Versione ridotta : fotografías de las obras de Siza, Souto de Moura y TávoraHistoryExhibition catalogsExhibition, pictorial works11ocn081682659mix1998La photographie et les transformations de la ville contemporaine : Venise-Marghera = Photography and transformations of the contemporary city : Venezia-Marghera :11ocn077894276mix199932 photographes italiens : un hommage à Phyllis Lambert = 32 Italian photographers : a tribute to Phyllis Lambert :01ocn701803939book19970.84Venezia-Marghera : fotografia e trasformazioni nella città contemporaneaExhibition catalogsExhibition, pictorial works+-+8376306333324+-+6480008933+-+6480008933Thu Oct 16 15:35:15 EDT 2014batch16741
