Alla Fondazione, Ray conosce anche Scarlett, la figlia del presidente, ragazzina viziata e supponente. Diviso tra l'amore filiale e la consapevolezza della scelta sbagliata compiuta dal padre, Ray infine si allea col nonno, comprendendone gli intenti pacifisti. Dopo una battaglia che si svolge nel cuore di Londra - e mentre è in corso l'Esposizione universale - Eddie cerca di salvare la sua torre facendola decollare; ma un guasto fa sì che la gigantesca macchina rischi di abbattersi sul centro di Londra.
