Reel to reel tapes, transcript of tapes, and related transcription materials of a collection including 19 oral history interviews sponsored by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies with funding from the Redd CEnter, the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences at Brigham Young University, and private individuals. The interviews provide information about the conversion of blacks and their interaction and association in a church with predominately white members. Alan Cherry, a black Mormon writer and a long-time member of the Latter-day Saint Church, conducted the interviews. The L.D.S. Afro-American Oral History Project is one of many projects sponsered by the Redd Center which examine the experiences of ethnic grougs in the Latter-day Saint Church
