"This book draws on a one-year project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and undertaken by CORECOG (Community of Congolese Refugees in Great Britain) and CRONEM (Centre for Research on Nationalism, Ethnicity and Multiculturalism at Surrey and Roehampton universities). The main aims of this innovative project were to explore the history and socio-political contexts of the Congolese migration to the UK and to encourage young British Congolese to take part in social research and oral history training and activities. By documenting the socio-cultural heritage of the Congolese communities in the UK, another initial objective was to increase the visibility of Congolese and Francophone African groups in the UK."--Page 4 of cover
