Problems in air traffic management by David K Trites( Book )

5 editions published in 1963 in English and held by 204 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A study of over 700 Enroute and Terminal Air Traffic Control Specialist trainees revealed that different kinds of pre-employment, job-related experience had differential value for the prediction of training performance. In general, experience most directly related to air traffic control work was a positive predictor; experience related to communications and piloting was negative. It was also shown that for Enroute trainees only, a composite variable representing the sum of tower GCA, RAPCON/RATCC, and center experience had a statistically significant, but small, relationship with ratings of job performance. In contrast, aptitude tests were superior to the experience variables for the prediction of all training course performance measures of both types of trainees, with the exception of laboratory performance of terminal trainees. Biomedical survey of ATC facilities by George T Hauty( Book )

5 editions published in 1965 in English and held by 201 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

From six enroute and six terminal air traffic control facilities selected on the basis of differences between shift rotation schedules and high IFR traffic volume, 300 journeymen and assistant controllers were selected as volunteer subjects to complete a biomedical inventory daily for a period of 90 consecutive days. The inventory elicited information relating to health, morale, behavioral habits, and side effects of medications. (Author)

Criterion dimensions of adaptability to pilot training by David K Trites( Book )

2 editions published in 1959 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A factor analysis of 22 variables obtained for aviation cadets during pilot training revealed five interpretable factors: Peer Respect, Peer Acceptance, Military Conformity, Academic Achievement, and Flying Achievement. Several of these could be matched with factors extracted in an earlier study, indicating relatively stable behavior dimensions. Hypotheses derived from the construct of adaptability were supported by comparison of factor scores for groups of subjects classified according to training outcome as pass, ability fail, motivational fail, or emotional fail. This was considered evidence for the validity of the construct
Characteristics of officers graduating in 1954 from Air Force Institute of Technology programs by David K Trites( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This note reports the results of a survey of 360 officers who remained in the Air Force and of 151 officers who left the Air Force subsequent to graduation from training programs sponsored by the Air Force Institute of Technology. Background information was collected and questionnaires were mailed to each group of officers. It was found that officers remaining on active duty are generally older, have more rank, have spent more time in service, and more frequently are rated than were officers leaving service. A number of possible methods of improving retainability are identified and discussed
