Es la idea de la arrogancia, fanatismo, bar{u00AD}barie y crueldad de los españoles, que la Leyenda Negra explicaba en términos de otredad esencial, de una alteridad racial que hacía de los habitantes de nuestro país una abominable mezcla de godos y semitas. Nuestro libro examina cómo surgió y se desarrolló este sistema, y cómo utilizó a Bartolomé de las Casas, la Inquisición, la Armada Invencible, los sa{u00AD}cos de Roma y Amberes, y a figuras como Felipe II y el duque de Alba.
