A film based on a true story. In 1972 at Bobigny (a suburb of Paris), Martine, an employee of the Paris Public Transport System, helps her daughter Léa end her pregnancy, which resulted from a rape. The women are found guilty and wait to be sentenced. Martine turns to the only lawyer whose name she knows, Gisèle Halimi. The lawyer proposes to make the trial an examplary case to denounce this injustice to women, and Martine accepts. This case was responsible for reversing the law of 1920 which considered abortion to be a criminal offense
