Noble souls by Margaret Mae Heineman( )

1 edition published in 2015 in English and held by 34 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Sunset Iridescence is a one of a kind sculptural bookwork which reflects the essence of the wings of the Madagascar Sunset Moth. My work is very much about the physical qualities of the materials I use. The papers, inks and gilding supplies used to recreate the colors and iridescence of the moth are described. A comparison of color created by pigment and color created by the refraction of light rays is discussed. Parallels are drawn between the structure of the codex and the behavioral patterns of the moths. The local name for the Madagascar Sunset Moth is Lolonandriana - lolo for `spirit or soul, ' andriana for `noble.' I was inspired by this concept of the soul to publish a letterpress printed chapbook. Unlike Flying in an Airplane is a short memoir of one of my experiences as a flight nurse. It recalls the first moments of lifting off in a helicopter as I prepared to stabilize and transport a critically ill child

Via negativa by Stephanie J Rue( )

1 edition published in 2015 in English and held by 16 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Via Negativa is my response to a linear, rational, Western framework of expressing and experiencing religion, as well as of reading. This project represents a shift away from Protestant Reformed thinking. It has meant an embrace of the unknown, a celebration of darkness, and an exploration of ancient religious texts to find meaning. This essay describes formative experiences and past artwork leading up to Via Negativa, as well as a description of the project itself

Solid phases by Sara Langworthy( Book )

1 edition published in 2012 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Solid Phases is inspired by drawings of the molecular structure of ice, and the language used to describe the brittle bond of water in its solid phase. This book explores the fragile nature of connection, tendency towards stasis despite change, and the impact of stress upon a solid. The text is culled from the book Ice Physics (Peter V. Hobbs, 1974) in particular the first section of the book entitled "Solid Phases of the Water Substance."--Artist's website
