6 editions published between 2010 and 2013 in French and held by 49 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

1 edition published in 2016 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

ABMA (increased well-being for better learning) is a health promoting school program based on international literature on the concept of health promoting schools. The planning and implementation of the health promotion program ABMA was constructed in the Lyon school board in 19 pilot schools. The program goal is to guide a school to become a health promoting school. The project is within the framework of interventional research. Our study consisted of identifying the enabling and inhibiting factors in the implementation of a health promotion program in the French education system. Evaluation methods are mixed: quantitative, but primarily qualitative. Independent variables correspond to individual characteristics of the school, to academic performance and to school climate. The dependent variables correspond to the level and quality of implementation of the program as well as the support process in the school. The results highlight the importance of the support process and show that the implication of the school board is essential for the long-term success. For schools, the main facilitating factors for global health promotion development are the involvement of the principal, regular communication to the entire educational community, a good initial evaluation of current conditions and individualized support

1 edition published in 2010 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Warning messages affixed to cigarette packages are central features of tobacco hazard prevention. With a focus on social psychological and cognitive effects of familiarity and repetition, the research program aims to understand the processes involved in exposure to warnings as a function of tobacco addiction (non smokers vs. light smokers vs. heavy smokers). Eight experimental studies were conducted (N = 1 305). The hedonic hypothesis was rejected: repeated exposure to the form of warning was not paradoxically associated with positive affect. When the exposure involves the semantic content of the warning, presented alone or in the context of a preference task for cigarettes' packets, the results suggest more adherence to the message and more perceived credibility (truth effect). The benefits of repeated exposure are found on both quantitative and qualitative information processing. Finally, the results highlight the importance of considering the dependence on tobacco in the receipt of warnings. The discussion focuses on the interests of public health approaches based not only on the effectiveness of interventions but also on the processes involved

1 edition published in 2008 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

1 edition published in 2011 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

We have attempted to identify the models of health and health education underlying the conceptions of teacher educators, and the obstacles and grounds for implementing training in health education, as were seen by the trainers. We also determined the characteristics and constants of ideal practice of training health education so as to propose a modelling tool that can be used for the training of teacher educators. Our approach was developed in two stages. We first interviewed 138 IUFM teacher educators by telephone using a questionnaire and teacher training curricula to establish an inventory of teacher training practices. In a second step, we conducted a qualitative analysis by interviewing 16 teachers, by telephone, during structured interviews, which we then fully transcribed and analyzed using the method of content analysis. The results of the qualitative analysis show that the interviewed teacher educators have a holistic approach to health and health education, focusing on the individual, and which has a positive impact on the implementation of actions for health education training. We also found that all the teacher educators interviewed had adopted health education as part of their professional activity: they feel at least partially competent in health education, and consider it to be a part of their mission. Moreover, most of the interviewed teacher educators showed practices in health education (both ideals of practices and reported personal practices) deriving from either an applicationist model, focusing on conceptual learning, or from a didactic model, focusing on the implementation of projects. The model holistic, focusing on the global approach to human health, was very marginal and not part of teacher educator's perceptions of their role in training future teachers. The lack of training for the teacher educators was thus found to be the main obstacle in developing effective health education, leading us to developed tools and make proposals for the training of teacher educators

1 edition published in 2012 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The school is called to contribute for a long time to the coverage of the diverse problems which crosses our society. It is in particular the case as regards the questions bound to the health of the young people. In France, as in most of the western countries, the way the school was interested in this question of the health of the pupils evolved, in particular during the last century, passing as simple vector of sanitary information to tend, today, to be a full actor of the promotion of the health of the pupils which it welcomes. The official texts of the Education tend to join this evolution. However, the researches concerning the practices of the actors of the French school system show that these approach in a very varied way the actions relative to the health of the pupils and that few of them joins this approach of the promotion of the health. Now, the international literature shows that this approach, taking into account at the same time the educational activities and the environment of the school are money approach effective to improve the health and the success of the pupils. These reports so call to question us, more particularly, about factors susceptible to contribute to a process of change inciting schools to work in this health-promoting approach. Our analysis leans on the frame of the realistic evaluation which has the peculiarity to emphasize the articulation between the contextual factors and the mechanisms activated by the device to implement a process of change to explain the observed effects. He so allows us to consider devices to develop the promotion of the health to the school as a whole in connection with the context into which they are introduced. This approach also makes possible a consideration of the complexity inherent to these devices in a dynamic prospect. Our ground of research fits into a wider project aiming at the development of the promotion of the health in the French primary schools by the implementation of devices of training and support. This project has the peculiarity to propose an implementation at two levels: the one regional and the other premises, allowing us to study factors in game in these two levels. At the end of these works, new perspectives of research emerge to continue on the way of the understanding of the phenomena which underlie the implementation of a health-promoting approach by the actors of the French school system. The first prospect of research makes a reference to the interest to go farther into the matter of the place and the influence of the leadership of certain key players of the school system. The second prospect sends back to the deepening of the study of mechanisms activated at the individual and interpersonal level of the members of the teams of school and in particular teachers. These works establish a first exploratory approach of the contextual factors and the mechanisms susceptible to intervene in the implementation of a health-promoting approach to the primary school in France. They have the peculiarity to study the phenomena in the work at the same time in the level of the teams of school and, in a more original way, in the level of the actors susceptible to accompany schools in this process of change. They also try to take into account the complexity inherent to these phenomena and do not aim at proposing a list of factors but well at attempting to include the interactions which take place between the introduced device and the context in which it is implemented
