Serviceability of floor systems with wood I-joists and concrete topping by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation( Book )

3 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Describes a study of the serviceability behaviour of a form of floor construction comprising wood I-joists, wood-based sub-floor, and a concrete topping whose prime purpose is to enhance fire safety and acoustic performance. Phase I of the study tested a series of composite beams comprising a single wood I-joist, a narrow strip of wood-based sheathing, and a concrete topping. Beams were tested before and after addition of the topping, studying primarily the influence of joist size and the use of light shear connectors on beam deflection and vibration properties. Test data were supplemented by results from computer modelling of beam behaviour in phase II. The computer model was used to study the influence of connection stiffness between concrete and sheathing, concrete width, and concrete thickness on beam behaviour. Phase 3 tested a full-size floor system to evaluate if some of the phase I and II findings were still applicable. Recommendations are made for designing and constructing such floor systems
