Bartholomäus Ringwaldt (1530/31-1599) gehört zu den markantesten Schriftstellern lutherisch-protestantischer Provenienz aus dem letzten Drittel des 16. Jahrhunderts; seine Schriften hatten - obwohl er als Landpfarrer in der Neumark fernab großer Zentren lebte - einen bemerkenswerten Erfolg bei den Zeitgenossen, woraus zu schließen ist, dass die Texte als repräsentativ für die moralischen, sozialen und religiösen Fragen ihrer Zeit gelten können. Sie gewähren Einblicke in eine noch wenig erforschte Phase der deutschen Literarhistorie zwischen etwa 1570 und 1630 und vermitteln die ethischen Wertvorstellungen und sozialen Verhältnisse der Zeit im protestantisch orientierten Raum Ostdeutschlands. Die vorliegende Edition ist die erste wissenschaftliche Ausgabe sämtlicher Werke Ringwaldts. Sie enthält einen authentischen, von Fehlern bereinigten Text und dokumentiert sämtliche überlieferten Varianten der Textgenese. Ergänzt wird die Textdokumentation durch eine Darstellung der Text- und Entstehungsgeschichte, der Wirkungsgeschichte und durch texterschließende Erläuterungen. Die vorliegende Ausgabe stellt zuverlässiges Material für Lektüre und Erforschung der Werke des berühmten frühneuzeitlichen Autors zusammen
