In this chilling and inventive documentary, executive produced by Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) and Errol Morris (The Fog of War), the unrepentant former members of Indonesian death squads are challenged to re-enact some of their many murders in the style of the American movies they love.In the 1960s Anwar Congo was a leader in Indonesia's pro-regime paramilitary group, Pancasila Youth who, along with his band of dedicated followers, was amongst those who participated in the murder and torture more than a million alleged Communists, ethnic Chinese and intellectuals. Proud of their deeds, which have still gone unpunished, Anwar and his pals are lauded as national heroes, and are delighted when the filmmakers ask them to re-enact these murders for their documentary - in any genre they desire. Initially Anwar and his friends enthusiastically take up the challenge using hired actors, making elaborate sets and costumes, but eventually as the movie violence is played out and reconstructed, Anwar's conscience begins to stir and feelings of remorse surface

The world is a mosaic of visions, and each vision is encapsulated by a language. Yet every two weeks, one of the world's approximately 6,500 languages dies out. What is the significance of this loss to those who speak the language as well as for the rest of humankind? Why do some languages become global while others disappear? And how are language and identity connected? In this program, linguists David Crystal, Peter Austin, and Jorgen Rischel search for the answers to those and other pressing questions as they investigate the state-and fate-of Livonian, in Latvia; Dogon, in Mali; Mlabri, in Thailand; Changsha Hua and Naqxi, in China; Pitjantjatjara and Pintupi, in Australia; and Tutunaku, in Mexico

Violence is a fact of everyday life in Colombia, where the drug cartels have kept the country in an armed conflict for decades, and where almost all families have lost a loved one. The unorthodox presidential candidate Antanas Mockus does all he can to reverse the vicious circle with an imaginative and positive election campaign. His idealism is both his strength and his weakness in a corrupt political system, where the people have lost faith in being able to make a difference
The act of killing : le génocide impuni( Visual )

2 editions published in 2013 in Indonesian and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"50% of the world's population lives in urban areas. By 2050 this will increase to 80%. Life in a mega city is both enchanting and problematic. Today we face peak oil, climate change, loneliness and severe health issues due to our way of life. But why? The Danish architect and professor Jan Gehl has studied human behavior in cities through 40 years. He has documented how modern cities repel human interaction, and argues that we can build cities in a way, which takes human needs for inclusion and intimacy into account. THE HUMAN SCALE meets thinkers, architects and urban planners across the globe. It questions our assumptions about modernity, exploring what happens when we put people into the center of our planning."--Container

Documentary. 45-year-old Jeannot left his native Senegal to start a new life in Belgium. Initially, he worked as a dishwasher in a bar, but when he married a rich woman, his life took a turn for the better. After 25 years, his marriage is over, but he has saved some money and returns to his home country to realise a dream; building a hotel in Popenguine, a small fishing village on the Senegalese coast. Full of confidence, he starts the construction work. Unlike the hotel owners in a neighbouring village, who keep their many customers happy with young black prostitutes, Jeannot hopes that his hotel will be more in tune with the traditional solidarity and culture of Popenguine. After some years of hard work, his palace is finally completed. Then he starts waiting for the hotel guests. Six months later, Jeannot is nearly bankrupt. To make matters worse, many of the villagers object to Jeannot's hotel. Schoolteacher Karim thinks that Jeannot should have conferred more with the village elders. Jeannot starts feeling like an outsider in his own country more and more. Then, taxi driver Birane decides to make an attempt at reconciliation between the village and the newcomer
