Archiwum Ringelbluma : konspiracyjne Archiwum Getta Warszawy( Book )

in Polish and held by 54 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Presents 149 letters from the Ringelblum Archives. They were sent from various places, mostly ghettos and labor camps outside of Warsaw, to family and friends in the Warsaw ghetto. All the letters were written in 1942 and give information, sometimes cryptically, about the mass murder of Jews or the fate of many Jews. Part of them are addressed to the Judenrat and contain requests for information about the address or fate of somebody, mainly a member of the family. Six letters were thrown out from the train during the transport of Płońsk Jews to Auschwitz. Most of the letters were written in Polish or Yiddish, some of them in German. Includes facsimiles. Pp. xi-xxix contain the editor's preface, dealing with the figure of Emanuel Ringelblum and the story of the "Oneg Shabbat" organization and its archives

The Polish underground and the Jews, 1939-1945 by Joshua D Zimmerman( Book )

3 editions published in 2018 in Polish and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Polish Underground and the Jews, 1939-1945 examines one of the central problems in the history of Polish-Jewish relations: the attitude and the behavior of the Polish Underground - the resistance organization loyal to the Polish government -in-exile - toward the Jews during World War II. Using a variety of archival documents, testimonies, and memoirs, Zimmerman offers a careful, dispassionate narrative, arguing that the reaction of the Polish Underground to the catastrophe that befell European Jewry was immensely varied, ranging from aggressive aid to acts of murder. By analyzing the military, civilian, and political wings of the Polish Underground and offering portraits of the organization's main leaders, this book is the first full-length scholarly monograph in any language to provide a thorough examination of the Polish Underground's attitude and behavior towards the Jews during the entire period of World War II
