Death justice : Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas and the contradictions of the death penalty by Kenneth W Miller( Book )

9 editions published in 2009 in English and Undetermined and held by 266 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Justice Scalia has warned of the danger of fallacies that pass for truth simply because they are frequently repeated. Death Justice argues that one fallacy that passes for truth is the widely held notion that Justices Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas applied a fixed standard--itself based on a fixed meaning of the Constitution--to death penalty cases. In defiance of their judicial rhetoric, their conclusions simply defy their, or any, conception of consistency. And without a logical, consistent foundation, their findings on the death penalty come to resemble little more than personal political pr

Reconnaissance survey of Galveston Bay sediments for selective nonresidual trace metals by Kenneth W Miller( )

1 edition published in 1995 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

For spatial analysis of the metal concentrations, the Galveston Bay system was divided into nine bay-areas, based on easily definable geological and geographical characteristics. Isopleth mapping analyses of these metal concentrations indicated a direct relationship with the $<$63$\mu$m fraction of the sediment (%FINE) in all of the bay areas. Covariate regression analyses indicated that position of the sediment within the Galveston Bay system (e.g. bay-area) was a better predictor of metal concentration than %FINE. Analysis of variance of the metals versus the bay-areas indicated that the five metals maintained a relatively constant order and magnitude of concentration for all the bay-areas
