Meret Oppenheim : retrospective by Meret Oppenheim( Book )

20 editions published in 2013 in 3 languages and held by 345 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This work celebrates the 100th birthday of the key representative of French Surrealism, Meret Oppenheim (1913-1985). With Breakfast in Fur (1936), a teacup covered in fur, the young woman became a legend and key protagonist of French Surrealism. Her multifaceted, independent oeuvre includes painting, sculpture, poetry, and design, and avoids any sort of stylistic categorization or strict lines of development. Themes determine her artistic work: the transformation of the genders, of man and animal, nature and culture, reality and imagination; dreams, myths, games, and literary material, such as the writings of C.G. Jung, serve as sources of inspiration. The publication illuminates her diverse body of work in an international context and demonstrates the influence this personality had on later generations of artists, for instance as a feminist role model."--The Publisher

4 editions published in 2017 in German and English and held by 107 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This monograph, designed by Joseph Logan in close collaboration with the artist, presents a selection of works from the early 1970s to today, demonstrating the artist's conceptual foundations. This volume includes, amongst other series, selections from 'Diary/Landscape, ' in which Welling matched the writing of his ancestors' letters with Connecticut winter landscapes; 'Glass House' a meditation on Philip Johnson's 1949 residence, shot using colored filters; examples from his 'Degrade s, ' pure color photograms created in the darkroom as well as selections from his recent 'Wyeth' and 'Choreograph' track his early interest in painting and dance. The illustrations are accompanied by an extensive interview with the artist and critical essays that discuss Welling's work in connection with American painting, post-modernism, and authorship, and the artist's eloquently emotional photographic language. 0Exhibition: S.M.A.K., Ghent, Belgium (28.01. - 16.04.2017) / Kunstforum Wien, Vienna, Austria (05.05. - 16.07.2017)
Gerhard Rühm by Gerhard Ruhm( Book )

5 editions published in 2017 in German and English and held by 70 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

5 editions published in 2015 in German and held by 61 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Amore e rivoluzione : coppie di artisti dell'avanguardia russa by Museo d'arte provincia di Nuoro (Italie)( Book )

6 editions published in 2017 in Italian and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Exhibition: Museo Man, Nuoro, Italy (01.06.-01.10.2017)
Canto di strada : Hamish Fulton, Michael Höpfner( Book )

2 editions published in 2015 in English and Italian and held by 23 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The exhibition Canto di Strada placed Fulton's & Höpfner's work side by side identifying a common ground for comparison in a 14-day walking journey through the Supramonte and Gennargentu mountains in Sardinia. The artists undertook separate journeys, experiencing a total immersion in the harsh environment without even meeting each other. Their respective approaches have been documented in two separate booklets. For this catalog Fulton has synthesized his path in texts, photographic prints and drawings made during his two week journey. Fulton's art is a kind of geographic poetry, with phrases and signs that, like maps, recall places, heights, toponyms and the miles he has covered, capturing the essential elements of his journey. The experience of walking is the work of art, while the texts and photos are simply means to convey it. Höpfner, on the other hand, has produced a series of photographic negatives, organized in sequences of four groups that correspond to different moments in his walk, together with a series notes from his journey superimposed on photographs. The works in the exhibition constitute a sort of reflection on art through an analysis of the relationship between experience and narration. For both artists, the object is a residual part of the experience <U+2013> the real work <U+2013> and is for the public. The books contain photos, wall drawings, installation views and the original essays The Song Line (The plain truth) by Lorenzo Giusti, The Value of Experience by Muriel Enjalran and Off the Beaten Track by Heike Eipelduer. -- publisher's statement

Oskar Kokoschka : expressionist, migrant, European : a retrospective by Oskar Kokoschka( Book )

4 editions published in 2018 in English and held by 15 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Oskar Kokoschka (1886?1980) is, along with Francis Picabia and Pablo Picasso, one of a generation of artists who retained their allegiance to figurative painting after the Second World War, even as abstract art was consolidating its predominance. It is also thanks to them that non-representational painting and figurative art can now be practised side by side without partisan feuding. Artists of the present day acknowledge their debt to Kokoschka in particular.0The retrospective traces the motifs and motivations of a painter who felt at home in no fewer than five countries. It brings together 100 paintings and an equal number of works on paper, photographs and letters from all phases of his career. Two impressive triptychs, each around eight metres wide and two metres high ? ?The Prometheus Triptych± (1950, Courtauld Gallery, London) and ?Thermopylae± (1954, University of Hamburg) ? are the high point of Kokoschka?s mature oeuvre, and of this retrospective. The two works have only been shown together once before, at the Tate in 1962.00Exhibition: Kunsthaus, Zürich, Switzerland (14.12.2018 - 10.03.2019)
Oskar Kokoschka - Expressionist, Migrant, Europäer : eine Retrospektive by Oskar Kokoschka( Book )

1 edition published in 2018 in German and held by 13 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
