A filmic fairy tale intended for audiences of every age

"Based on a real case in Magdeburg during the Weimar Republic. The Jewish manufacturer Jacob Blum is framed for the murder of his accountant due to the accusations of Gabler, a thief and dealer of stolen goods. Anti-Semitic prosecutors accept these accusations, as they believe all Jews are criminals. Even with evidence indicating the crime was committed by Gabler, the prosecutors refuse to change their stance. Blum's only hope is a commissar in Berlin, who takes over the investigation and finds the real murderer."--Container

When the document's nefarious writings start leading to terrifying parallels in reality, it's up to Berlin's star detective, Inspector Lohmann, to connect the fragmented, maddening clues in a case unlike any other. The Testament of Dr. Mabuse appropriates slogans and ideas from the newly ascendant Nazi party and puts them into the mouth of a madman, warning the audience of the horrible menace that was rapidly becoming a reality
Diary of a lost girl by G. W Pabst( Visual )

4 editions published between 1929 and 2001 in English and German and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A melodrama portraying the adventures of an innocent led astray. The heroine, seduced by her pharmacist father's lascivious assistant, bears an illegitimate child. Judged harshly by her family she is sent to a brutally run reformatory, escapes into prostitution and is finally reinstated in society. Based on a popular novel which mixed emancipatory and sentimental elements, Pabst's film is indeterminately updated. Although presumably set in Weimar Germany there is no attempt to present an historically accurate setting. In conception the reformatory is Prussian, the brothel Victorian. Brooks' quality of knowing innocence is at its most erotic in the brothel scenes. The film attacks the harshness of bourgeois morality without challenging patriarchy, playing upon the woman's predicament while maintaining a male perspective

This activity so disgusts Richter's son, blind ex-soldier Edwin (Paul Edwin Roth), that the boy literally disowns his father. Hans eventually mends his ways, but not before several other devastating setbacks occur
M, eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder by Fritz Lang( Visual )

2 editions published in 2009 in German and Undetermined and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Quelle: Umschlagtext)
Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse( Visual )

1 edition published in 2012 in German and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 1922 Fritz Lang made the two-part film "Dr Mabuse, der Spieler" ("Dr Mabuse, the Gambler"). He revived his evil genius in 1933 for this talkie sequel which picks up precisely where the original had ended, with Mabuse's madness, capture and incarceration. Mabuse has been in an asylum for ten years, but his crime organisation is still perpetrating an insane orgy of wanton destruction, threats, shoot-outs, thefts, explosions, bombings, burnings, and floodings. Banned by the Nazis, the film is one of Fritz Lang's most inventive crime thrillers

Still, the two become friends within the motley crew of losers from all nations. Gale and his new companion soon are more than disillusioned: the "Yorikke" is far from seaworthy and more of a coffin than a ship, work is close to slavery, and treatment by the officers and their subalterns is harsh and cynical. One day they make an alarming discovery in a tin of plum butter they have procured from the ship's cargo
