Hilarion's Asse : Laurence Sterne and humour by Peter Jan de Voogd( )

8 editions published between 2013 and 2014 in English and held by 779 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The humour of Tristram Shandy has often been acknowledged, but it is not easy to find scholarly articles on Laurence Sterne which suggest that their authors laughed as they wrote. Nine authors have been invited to redress this in the year of the tercentenary of Sterne's birth. This volume offers nine different facets of humour, a kaleidoscope which enables readers to recombine at will the genial, the bawdy, the sentimental, the ludicrous, the hobby-horsical, the philosophical, the irreverent, the incongruous and the facetious, sending the text spiralling out of the page."--
Defining and redefining space in the English -speaking world : contacts, frictions, clashes by Fanny Moghaddassi( )

5 editions published in 2016 in English and held by 572 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Contacts, on the individual and institutional levels and in the political and aesthetic spheres, lead to redefinitions of existing identities through frictions and, sometimes, clashes. Focusing on the material conditions of such contacts, frictions, and clashes, this volume particularly explores their essentially spatial nature, highlighting the stakes of such definitions and redefinitions of space. Efforts at defining and mapping spaces, physical experiences of contacts, frictions and clashes, tensions between different groups or genres and literary or political competition for space and infl
Real and imaginary travels : 16th-18th centuries = Voyages réels, voyages imaginaires : XVIe-XVIIIe siècles( Book )

4 editions published in 2015 in French and English and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

9 editions published between 1991 and 1992 in French and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

THE PUBLICATION OF TRISTRAM SHANDY BY L.STERNE PROMPTED MANY REACTIONS: EACH OF THE FIVE INSTALMENTS (1759-67) SPAWNED PARASITIC WRITINGS. PAMPHLETS JEERING AT THE NEW AUTHOR'S SUCCESS, VOLUMES APING HIS WRITING, VERSE CELEBRATING HIM IN THE MAGAZINES, ALL INCREASED "TRISTRAM'S" REPUTATION OF INDECENCY. STERNE CONTRIBUTED TO IT BY PUBLISHING THE SERMONS UNDER THE PSEUDONYM OF YORICK. THE REACTIONS APPEARED MAINLY IN 1760: THE EXPLANATORY REMARKS WERE FOLLOWED BY THE CLOCKMAKER'S OUTCRY, SO CLEVER AND WELL INFORMED THAT IT IS PROBABLY BY STERNE HIMSELF. THEN CAME FICTIONS IMITATING TRISTRAM SHANDY AND ADOPTING ITS TITLE. THE PUBLICATION BY INSTALMENTS OPENED THE WAY FOR FORGERS: SPURIOUS VOLUMES THREE AND NINE WERE PUBLIHED BEFORE STERNE'S OWN. THE AUTHENTIC VOLUMES ARE COMPARED TO THE FORGERIES IN A STYLOMETRIC STUDY. AFTER FERRIAR'S WORK (1798), STERNE LOST HIS REPUTATION OF ORIGINALITY. RECENT STUDIES SHOW THAT HIS BORROWINGS ARE ALWAYS TRANSFORMED. A SCRUTINY OF THE IMITATIONS REVEALS THAT STERNE USES HIS FOLLOWERS JUST AS THE CLASSICS: HE APPROPRIATES SOME OF THEIR BEST IDEAS AND INCORPORATES THEM INTO HIS OWN WRITING

1 edition published in 2013 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Hyperfiction, creativity and postmodern novel by Baharak Darougari( )

1 edition published in 2018 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
