The family of the deceased on the boat wanted to bury their father's (Tŏkpae) corpse on the island, their hometown, but people on the island did not allow them to land. Kim Ch'ŏl who came with Tŏkpae's son recalled what happend on the island during the Korean War. Tŏkpae and his family were banished from the island because of what he had done to his insane wife.
