In 1892 members of the Dalton Gang were killed during a bank robery and gunfight in Coffeyville, Kansas. The Dalton brothers were descendents of Timothy and Elizabeth Dalton of Bedford Co., Virginia and "Lighthorse" Harry Lee and Charles Younger through their parents, James Lewis Dalton (1826-1890) and Adeline Lee Younger (1835-1925). The Dalton brothers were cousins of the Younger brothers of the James-Younger gang. Four brothers eventually became outlaws. Bob and Grat were killed at Coffeyville, Bill was killed a few years latter and Emmett (after being seriously wounded in the Coffeyville raid) served time in the penitentiary and eventually settled in California where he died in 1937. Descendents live in California and Oklahoma

James Lewis Dalton (1826-1890), son of Benjamin Dalton and Nancy Rabourn, was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky. He married Adeline Lee Younger (1836-1928), daughter of Charles Younger and Parmelia Dorcus Wilson, in 1851 in Jackson County, Missouri. She was a half sister to Henry Washington Younger, father of the outlaw Younger brothers. The Daltons had fifteen children and at least four or five of the boys were the majority of the outlaw Dalton Gang. Most family members mentioned lived in Oklahoma or California
