He wants to send the book to an elderly lady, who may die before its publication. He adds, if the worth of a book may be valued by its gestation, this should be one of the grandest books in the world, since it is two and one half years since it was contracted. He wants to give a copy to his ailing mother as well as the elderly lady and they are not "immortal." In a postscript he adds, "Please do not ask for my address again. It's the same for the past nine years." Then he lists his address as the Players Club in New York City.
