Information quality management capability maturity model by Saša Baškarada( )

4 editions published in 2009 in English and held by 341 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Today, it is essential for organisations to pay greater attention to data and information, which must be considered as a valuable strategic resource. However, many organisations are challenged by determining the right way to improve the level of data quality. Sa?a Ba?karada presents a capability maturity model for information quality management process assessment and improvement. The author employed six exploratory case studies and a four round Delphi study to gain a better understanding of the research problem and to build the preliminary model, which he then applied in seven international case studies for further enhancement and external validation. The model is a set of evaluation tools and methodologies, which are intended to assist with the identification of relevant problems and solutions. Thus, the Information Quality Management Capability Maturity Model (IQM-CMM) may provide organisations with a measure of their maturity in information quality management, along with recommendations for increasing the level of maturity

Shared services initiative : a joint initiative of the University of South Australia and the Flinders University of South Australia( Book )

2 editions published in 2001 in English and held by 38 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report draws on the 'Shared Services Initiative Final Report', which documents the consultancy undertaken by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu to assist the University of South Australia and Flinders University in considering the feasibility of and issues associated with adopting different models of administrative service delivery. Eight administrative processes were reviewed across a number of service delivery models. The objective was to identify those processes with the greatest potential to benefit from the implementation of shared services arrangements and to define the possible benefits to be achieved with respect to cost, quality and flexibility, potential risks and ways of addressing them. The approach taken was to interview and conduct joint working sessions with the respective directos and managers from the two universities. The study concluded that most of the services provided by the universities are essentially the same but are supported by substantially different computer systems and applications. It was proposed that the service sharing approach providing the greatest benefit across all processes would be the establishment of a shared services centre, with potential savings of around 10%. Creating practical knowledge for managing interprofessional health care teams : the promise of critical realism and the theory of action by Tim Rogers( )

3 editions published in 2005 in English and held by 38 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Managing a multidisciplinary team in the interprofessional health care field is a fraught enterprise. Facing a turbulent and complex environment, managers have to confront the additional difficulties of aligning competing interests, accommodating diverse perspectives, and resolving interpersonal conflicts withn their own team. Often these dilemmas feature incommensurate versions of the meaning of natural and social objects, including discrepancies in determining the correct identity of actions and roles. I have termed these difficulties 'problems of situated practice'. These problems take two typical forms. Firstly, difficulties arise as different models of practice compete. Since team members come from various professional backgrounds, they may hold divergent views of the issues they encounter. While this conveys advantages, and is indeed the rationale for the multidisciplinary team concept in the first place, it runs the evident risk of splintering the team. Secondly, there are difficulties managing the limits to professional autonomy. Because of the collegial aspirations implied by the very idea of a multidisciplinary decision making framework, disputes can arise with respect to the proper authority each member has, and in which situations it can be legitimately invoked

Case-study research in distance education by Alistair Morgan( Book )

2 editions published in 1991 in English and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report considers a range of issues involved in doing case-study research with emphasis on the potential for and the problems associated with this approach in distance education. The report begins with an introduction to the case-study research methodology, noting that it is not widely recognized as an approach in distance education. Substantive general issues are identified as ethical issues, problems of validity and reliability, generalizability, and the extent to which case-study research can contribute to the building of theory. Two case studies in distance education are then presented to illustrate different aspects of this type of research, both in the nature of the findings and the theoretical issues involved. The first example looks at the process of developing distance education courses with particular attention to the experience of the Classroom Processes course at Deakin University (Victoria, Australia). The second example is an interview-based evaluation study of the introduction of home computers into an Open University (United Kingdom) second-level course, The Fundamentals of Computing. The more detailed report for the second study covers theoretical perspective; methodology; the types of students (I.E., professionals using computers, students wanting a degree for a job change, women returning to work, students with a general interest in computers, and computer experts); study patterns and coping with the course; and issues of openness and access. The two studies are then compared, and a discussion of the development of theory in distance education concludes the report. (8 references) (db)
