CSIRO guide to the specification of dimension stone by G. W Quick( Book )

1 edition published in 2002 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This BTF presents standards and properties to help the architect, designer or specifier of stone to establish criteria for the selection of stone for specific use. The selection of stone purely on aesthetic grounds presents a number of pitfalls. Choosing a stone that has a proven track record in a similar installation (including dimensions and environment) will generally reduce the selection problems. However, the need for testing should always be considered, as it should ensure that the stone supplied is equivalent to the original selection criteria, and that it is appropriate for the intended purpose. The test methods discussed are not exhaustive; other test methods may be required for some specialised applications
A review of VOC emissions and drying mechanisms for interior paints and coatings by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation( Book )

2 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report reviews research on the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from paints & coatings from two perspectives: drying & film formation, and VOC emission into indoor air. The review is based on 120 key references published over the last 30 years. The focus is on traditional water-based latex paints and solvent-based coatings for use in buildings. The coating process and drying mechanisms are reviewed for each of these, including a limited review of volatile paint constituents and their health hazards. The report concludes with directions for future research

Mean wind pressures on arched-roof buildings by computation by J. D Holmes( Book )

1 edition published in 1992 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The calculation of mean pressure coefficients for buildings with various arched-roof configurations is described. The time-averaged equations of fluid motion in three dimensions are solved, with the effect of turbulence incorporated through the k-E turbulence model. The geometric variables that affect the wind pressures on arched-roof buildings are the span, the rise, the length along the axis of the arch, and the height of the vertical walls below the arch. The computed mean pressure coefficients increase as the length/span ratio increases when the approach wind direction is normal to the axis of the arch. The pressure coefficients on the roof become more positive as the rise/span ratio increases
