Policies towards full employment by Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques( Book )

13 editions published in 2000 in English and held by 220 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As we embark on a new century, some 33 million people are out of work in the OECD area. Policies to increase employment have topped most countries' domestic political agendas in the past decade. And employment and unemployment are likely to remain major economic and social challenges for many countries in the years to come. This book presents the proceedings of a conference on labour markets which was organised by the Ministries of Labour and Finance of Finland, with the support of the OECD and the European Commission. It advances thinking on new policy measures, such as active labour market policies and measures to "make work pay" and focuses on specific experiences in a few individual countries, namely the United States, Japan, Finland and Denmark. It includes papers from politicians, high level officials from the European Commission and the OECD Secretariat, social partners and prominent representatives from the academic community. Proceedings of the Helsinki Conference, January 2000

Opportunities and risks in Central European finances by European Commission( Book )

12 editions published in 2000 in English and held by 146 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The recent emerging market crises in Asia and other regions suggests that while international capital inflows can make recipient economies stronger, they can potentially also increase the vulnerability of these economies to financial market crises. Two of the most notable sources of vulnerability are the quality of domestic financial intermediation and the speculative nature of some investment flows. 'Opportunities and Risks in Central European Finances' examines the nature of capital flows in the region, seeking to explain its dynamics, and potential sources of vulnerability. The book also appraises some potential costs that could be associated with a financial crisis. Finally, it presents views on how to manage these risks more effectively

9 editions published in 2002 in English and held by 144 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This publication is a product of the Fertility and Family Survey (FFS) project, which was conducted between 1988 and 1999 by the Population Activities Unit (PAU) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), with financial support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The objectives of the project were: 1) to conduct comparable Fertility and Family Surveys in UNECE member countries; 2) to create and archive FFS Standard Recode Files (SRFs); 3) to prepare FFS Standard Country Reports (SCRs); 4) to carry out a program of cross-country comparative research. The FFS IWG organized an end-of-project conference; the FFS Flagship Conference became an occasion for many researchers to present their findings of comparative analyses based on FFS data, in particular those studying partnership and fertility behavior. Volume one presents selected contributions to the FFS Flagship Conference solicited by the Organising Committee of the Conference. The second volume presents contributions received in response to a call for papers issued by the Organising Committee
