Whose trade organization? : a comprehensive guide to the WTO by Lori Wallach( Book )
7 editions published between 2003 and 2004 in English and held by 749 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Here is the definitive guide to the WTO. It reveals which WTO policies have led to U.S. job losses, the race to the bottom in wages, unsafe food, attacks on environmental and health laws, and burgeoning international inequality. Want to know why the WTO attracts passionate protests all over the world? Public Citizen advocates Wallach and Woodall carefully document the WTO's nine-year track record with riveting case-by-case accounts. And trade is the least of it: this book shows how the WTO chills government actions to fight sweatshops, make lifesaving drugs available, and protect endangered species - and even limits our elected governments' ability to maintain policies on everything from meat inspection to media concentration." "Whose Trade Organization? offers first steps toward a democratic, accountable alternative. It reminds us that change is not only necessary - it's possible."--Jacket

The WTO : five years of reasons to resist corporate globalization by Lori Wallach( Book )
8 editions published between 1999 and 2014 in English and held by 241 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
In this groundbreaking pamphlet, directors of Ralph Nader's Public Citizen group examine the first five years of the World Trade Organization's track record, demonstrating how the WTO aims to create a new global economic system that increases corporate profit with little regard for social and ecological impacts, or democratically enacted law. Wallach and Sforza make clear recommendations for altering the undemocratic course that the WTO imposes on democratic society

NAFTA : Four and a Half Years Later. Have the Promised Benefits Materialized? by Lori Wallach( )
3 editions published in 1998 in English and Undetermined and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
According to the author of this article, the American public, as well as Congress itself, were hoodwinked both by the Bush and Clinton administrations into believing that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) would bring all sorts of benefits - not only to the United States, but also to Mexico with which it made the agreement. Four and a half years later, it is becoming apparent, the author continues, that the promised benefits are totally illusory, except, of course, to the transnational corporations who were its real promoters, and whose immediate interest it was always designed to serve. This article analyses the effects of NAFTA since its creation in 1993, in particular, its failures with regard to poverty, unemployment, social dislocation and environmental disruption.--SCAD summary
