But when his wife's childhood love suddenly appears, the idyllic summer day takes a surprising turn. Winner of the 1994 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Cannes Grand Jury Prize, this is a lyrical film filled with beauty and warmth, but is also an indelible account of a man dedicated to family and the fatherland, cruelly destroyed by political paranoia

Living in Tocopilla, Chile, young Alejandro must prove his bravery to his Communist father Jaime. He endures physical testing, with his father's strong approval. However, his behavior backslides when he collapses at a funeral, so he decides, in order to show his worth, to assassinate the right-wing president Carlos Ibáñez del Campo. The film is a mystical autobiography of Alejandro Jodorowsky's childhood that blends his personal history with metaphor, mythology, and poetry. It reflects his philosophy that reality is not objective, but rather a "dance" created by our own imaginations

Le paradis by Alain Cavalier( Visual )

2 editions published in 2014 in French and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
