Originalutgaven av denne boken vant 1. premie i en konkurranse om samisk skjønnlitteratur i 1996. Boken er nå gjendiktet til norsk av Laila Stien og til engelsk av Kaija Anttonen. Alle de tre språkformene er tatt med her. Temaet i diktene er hele livssyklusen, alt som skjer et menneske - fra fødsel til død. Juryen skrev blant annet: "Bokens tema er livets sirkel fra fødsel til død. Livets gleder, sorger og realiteter kommer fram på en måte som berører alle lesere". Rauni Magga Lukkari er født i 1943 i Utsjok i Finland. Hun er nå bosatt i Tromsø. Hun er i dag den mest anerkjente samiskelyrikeren, hun har spesielt skildret samisk kvinneliv i sin diktning

Tema i denne diktsamlingen er sorg, sorg etter at en ung gutt har begått selvmord. Her er tanker, stemninger og følelser knyttet til dette temaet, selvvalgt død. Diktene har også vært utgangspunkt for en teaterforestilling ved Beaivvas Sámi Teáhter som tok for seg temaet selvmord, med bakgrunn i den økende selvmordstendensen blant unge gutter i Finnmark. Boken er illustrert med fotografier i svart/hvitt fra denne teateroppsetningen. Forfatteren Rauni Magga Lukkari er bosatt i Tromsø, flere av hennes bøker er oversatt til norsk, dansk, finsk og engelsk. Boken er oversatt fra samisk av Laila Stien
