The dark shadows of New York come to life in this rarely-seen, moody, jazz-soaked noir classic. He enlists the help of an alcoholic photographer who has the street smarts to track down the diplomat's mistresses

100 years of Olympic films(
Visual
)
1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Four films were made around the Games of the XVI Olympiad in 1956, the first Olympic Games ever held in Australia, or indeed anywhere outside Euope and the U.S. (though equestrian events took place in Stockholm). Of the two feature endeavors, The Melbourne Rendez-vous (Rendez-vous à Melbourne), directed by René Lucot, excels. Its tone is more observant and more inquiring than that of most Olympic films. Olympic Games, 1956, is not as inspired as Lucot's film, but there are some fetching scenes in the Olympic Village. Alain Mimoun is a jewel of a documentary about the beloved long-distance Algerian-born French runner who conquers his first marathon. The last visual record of these Games, The Horse in Focus, covers the equestrian segment, which for the first time in Olympic history was held in a different city than the host city
