Sketchalogue II : your guide to when and how not to sketch by Hans Guggenheim( Book )

1 edition published in 2011 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

"This book was written in anticipation of the Exhibition of my sketchbooks at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. The show came about at the initiative of professor Fred Liang who saw a few at a small party in my house and took them to show to president Katherine Sloan. President Sloan and Fred Liang are both strong advocates of having students travel and be exposed to the art and culture of people around the world thought that my sketchbooks would encourage them to go on art expeditions. It is with dismay that I realize that the traveling and sketching I undertook for LIFE magazine in 1956 through countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Burma is today all but impossible. However, the 21st century offers young American artists new opportunities to safely travel, study and sketch in China, parts of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America."--(Acknowledgements, p.13)
