Capote by Bennett Miller( Visual )

25 editions published between 2005 and 2015 in English and held by 2,618 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 1959, Truman Capote was a popular writer for The New Yorker. He learns about the horrific and senseless murder of a family of four in Holcomb, Kansas. Inspired by the story, Capote and his partner, Harper Lee, travel to the town to do research for an article. However, as Capote digs deeper into the story, he is inspired to expand the project into what would be his greatest work, "In Cold Blood." He arranges extensive interviews with the convicted killers, especially with Perry Smith. However, his feelings of compassion for Perry conflicts with his need for closure for his book which only an execution can provide. That conflict and the mixed motives for both interviewer and subject make for a troubling experience that would produce an literary account that would redefine modern non-fiction

Back in the 1970s, several patients in an experimental sleep study reported seeing shadowy intruders. These patients, and hundreds of others, died in their sleep soon after. Doctors called the phenomenon ''Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome''. They refused to discuss the shadows. Now, a struggling late night radio host and a skeptical CDC investigator have begun researching a disturbing new outbreak of shadowy sightings and sleep fatalities. Could this be a case of paranoid hallucination, or are these victims literally being scared to death by actual nightmare creatures?

"Unlikely alliances are formed during a holiday tour in this comedy from the Czech Republic. A busload of vacationers hop aboard a bus (driven by two men named Karel) for a package tour that will take them to the seashore. Along with the drivers and the aggressively perky tour guide, the travelers include a pair of teenage girls with boys on their mind, a thirtysomething single woman who is accompanied by her parents and worried about her romantic future, a briefly successful songwriter who strikes up a friendship with her, a very out-of-the-closet gay couple, a straight-laced couple trying to shelter their children from "inappropriate" influences, a diving enthusiast who has a fetish for watching women swim underwater, and an elderly woman who is trying to relive a youthful adventure with the help of two of her friends. Some of the travelers fall in love, some face disappointments, and all walk away changed in some small way"--All movie WWW site, June 5, 2012

Capote( Visual )

Set in the period during which Capote - the celebrated author of Breakfast at Tiffany's - researched and wrote his chilling account of a Kansas family's brutal murder by "thrill killers" Richard Hickock and Perry Smith, the film paints an unflattering picture of its subject, who for many years was an A-list party guest, raconteur, bon vivant, and darling of New York's literary set. Capote ruthlessly exploited and manipulated everyone around him - including Smith, whom he befriended and pretended to represent to the outside world - to get the story he knew would be his crowning achievement. That even included his loyal friend Harper Lee and his patient lover, Jack Dunphy, who sacrificed much to help Truman achieve his goal. The self-loathing and deep-rooted insecurity that compelled Capote to dismiss or reject those who cared about him most is revealed
