"One of several musically-gifted members of the Martínez family, Debbie Martínez (1959-2007) was said to have had too large a voice for any group act. She became a regional sensation during the 1970s for her musical talents, which she used to preserve and promote New Mexico's musical culture at a time when few female musicians enjoyed the limelight. As the title suggests, the album Dios, Familia y Tierra (God, Family and Land) reflects the values that the Martínez family embraced with their musical talents. Debbie's father, Roberto -- who composed the opening track "Mi Tierra Norteña" ("My Northern Land") -- explains that the song is "about the beauty of Northern New Mexico," to which he attributes his appreciation of God's blessings early on in life."--Smithsonian Folways website

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Background: The American Nurses Association defined a fall in 2009 as an unplanned descent to the floor with or without injury to the patient (Anderson et al., 2008). In the United States alone, 700,000 and 1,000,000 falls occur in hospitals every year. Furthermore, approximately 30-35% of these falls result in injury and 11,000 falls result in death (Health Research & Educational Trust, 2016). Not only have falls caused emotional and physical harm, it can create an impact to the staff and organization. In 2012, fatal falls resulted in $616.5 million and non-fatal falls resulted in $30.3 billion in healthcare costs. These costs increased in 2015 to $637.7 million for fatal falls and $31.3 billion for non-fatal falls (Burns, Stevens, & Lee, 2016)

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

CNL students were invited to a large metropolitan hospital in an effort to create a quality improvement project related to sepsis in order to decrease cost, the length of stay, and improve patient outcomes. CNL students shadowed nurses in order to better un derstand the nursing culture and assess the microsystem. Chart audits were reviewed to determine whether nurses at the assigned units were completing sepsis screenings on time and used the appropriate vital signs and labs. Nurses⁰́₉ questionnaires were provi ded to assess sepsis knowledge and their understanding of sepsis. Results showed a lack in compliance in completing sepsis screenings on time through observation, but it was discovered in the chart audits that nurses were changing the time of completion. A sepsis badge was created and a sepsis proce ss map was improved to better assist nurses with the identification of sepsis. A CNL and ⁰́₋Sepsis Champion⁰́₊ is recommended in order to implement sepsis screenings and improve patient outcomes
