Cornelia Parker by Iwona Blazwick( Book )

ART STYLES: C 1960 -. Cornelia Parker is one of the most thoughtful and profound artists working in Britain today. Exploring everything from ghosts and gravity to relics and the unconscious, she transforms everyday, ordinary objects into compelling works of art. Parkers projects which have included blowing up a shed, steamrolling musical instruments, exploding a firework made from a pulverised meteorite, and suspending charcoal taken from a church struck by lightning have captured the public imagination since she first came to prominence in the 1990s. This monograph, now available in paperback, traces the development of her art from the late 1970s to the present day. Organised chronologically to show the development of her thinking and practice, the book also features five thematic essays by curator and writer Iwona Blazwick. Over 175 works are illustrated, each accompanied by a commentary from the artist herself

Cornelia Parker : verso by Cornelia Parker( Book )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This diminutive artist’s book was specially commissioned by Ivorypress as part of an ongoing series. ‘Verso’ is a previously unpublished work by British sculptor and installation artist Cornelia Parker. Taking button samplers as her starting point, Parker uncovers the patterns left by the buttons and holes on the reverse side of these mundane pieces, using string and thread to create drawings and paths while attempting to reveal the motivations they might hide, or even what they could say about those who made them. A short but evocative text by Colm Tóibín offers some perspective on the work." -- www.ideabooks.nl, accessed 25 May 2016

"One of Britain's most acclaimed artists, Parker possesses an acute eye for the possibilities of materials and an unrivaled skill in making the cliché come to life with new meaning. This exhibition marks the reopening of the Whitworth and several works shown are the result of unique collaboration between the artist and University of Manchester scientists. It includes career-defining works such as Cold Dark Matter: An Exploded View and The Distance (A Kiss with String Attached) alongside many of her drawings and new, specially made works of art, including War Room, War Machine, Jerusalem (Occupied Territory), and Blakean Abstract."
