The Wonderful World of VenhoevenCS architects( Book )

1 edition published in 2009 in English and held by 61 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Publisher's abstract)This is the first monograph on the Amsterdam architecture office VenhoevenCS. Contributions are by Ton Venhoeven, Bernard Colenbrander, Wim Nijenhuis, Pnina Avidar, Marc Schoonderbeek, Bas Römgens, Tim Habraken and Helga Lasschuijt.VenhoevenCS is an ambitious and innovative office for architecture and urbanism with projects in numerous fields of activity. The designs propose different ways in which people, animals and things can live together within a limited space. VenhoevenCS has a desire to create sustainable solutions, not only in an ecological sense, but also in the sense that buildings have and retain emotional resonance, and therefore have longevity. Not only do VenhoevenCS design a clear outward structure and appearance, they also load this design with different associations: these can look like a village, hangar, animal, machine, spaceship or cave. The skin of the building does not reveal everything about the interior. It is like the first shot of a movie or a camouflage that conceals the interior and stimulates our imagination. Patterns, textures and images on the skin make us curious. Beyond the skin lies a different world. It contains homelike spaces and adventurous spaces, intimate and big spaces, organized and messy spaces. The interior is like a city inside a building
Jan van Munster : Licht = Light = Licht by Peter Lodermeyer( Book )

4 editions published in 2012 in German and English and held by 53 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Electric light as a theme and 'material' (in the broadest sense) of art plays an important role in the oeuvre of Dutch artist Jan van Munster (1939). Since the 1970s, and in particular since developing his Brainwaves (from 1997 on), many of his sculptures work with sources of light or may be described as illuminants radiating into the surrounding space. This book for the first time comprehensively documents the extremely heterogeneous group of van Munster's works with light, thus impressively demonstrating the significance and the diverse use of light in the work of the sculptor--

See play eat walk : Gwangju Folly III : where the everyday and the unexpected intersect by Eui Young Chun( Book )

2 editions published in 2017 in English and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Under the theme of Folly & Everyday Life - Taste and Beauty, Gwangju Folly III designed verbs to experience taste and beauty. This book presents the four follies, new commissioned works from architects and artists to challenge the perception of public space: View Folly, GD (Gwangju Dutch) Folly, Cook Folly, Fun Pun Folly and Mini Folly as a sub-folly. Gwangju Folly III perceives follies as a new and creative spatial alternative that is able to overcome the contextual limitations of existing urban cities and facilitate greater communication with the public. The Gwangju Folly III Project, thus, attempts to create an unconventional and participatory project where the everyday and the unexpected intersect"--Dust jacket

No seat at the table by Minem Sezgin( Book )

1 edition published in 2021 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

What defines a City? Is it its buildings, public spaces or people? 'No Seat At The Table' is a fictional graphic novel about the local and global influences of gentrification on citizens in Turkish and Dutch cities. The book highlights four neighbourhoods where this phenomenon is occurring: Piyalepa?a in Istanbul, Ismetpasa in Ankara, De Kolenkitbuurt in Amsterdam, and Lombok in Utrecht. Each story is told from the perspective of pigeons and inspired by real life experiences of residential displacement in Turkey and the Netherlands. The stories critically inquire about gentrification, the housing crisis and the current interpretations of setting priorities and affordability in urban planning. By doing so, it aims to facilitate the conversation on inclusive and sustainable cities for all. 00The book is initiated and written by Minem Sezgin, and Illustrated by Rajab Eryigit, Bob Mollema, Erhan Muratoglu, Jasmijn de Nood
