No sweat( Visual )

4 editions published between 2005 and 2010 in English and held by 292 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In April, 2002, in downtown Los Angeles two companies are trying to take the sweat out of sweatshops in the U.S. garment industry: SweatX and American Apparel. Both want to be models for how to bring manufacturing business back to the United States. SweatX, brainchild of Ben & Jerry's Ben Cohen, pays by the hour, and enables workers to acquire ownership in the company. American Apparel, founded by Dov Charney, pays based on how much workers produce per hour, but offers massages and vacation time. While offering fascinating portraits of Dov Charney and Ben Cohen, the filmmaker unfortunately never addresses the most important aspect: how to create a new kind of profitable, non-exploitative manufacturing facility
