Like a desperado under the eaves by Shinji Aoyama( Visual )

2 editions published in 2003 in Japanese and held by 111 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

'Like a Desperado Under the Eaves' was originally produced for the 2003 Jeonju Digital Project, which invites submissions by "passionate filmmakers who are competitively searching for the cinematic language at the very edge of film production." Says director Aoyama Shinji: "When I was asked to produce this film, I wanted to freely draw a picture of my lethargic self when I was in the mid-twenties, drinking and cursing at the world, and without a job. I also depict the stories that happened around me at the time." Some of these stories include a mysterious girlfriend who loans him money and shares his manuscripts with the world, a neighbor who is continually chanting and playing the drum, and a middle-aged man who screams in pain and who wants to be thrown out of the building. Akihiko, one of Aoyama's recurring characters from the director's Kitakyushu trilogy, writes and plays songs with a friend, but is too shy (or lethargic!) to play them in public, only watching while his friend performs. Aoyama presents a vivid picture of Japanese youth estranged from salaryman society

Roji e : Nakagami Kenji no nokoshita firumu by Shinji Aoyama( Visual )

5 editions published in 2002 in Japanese and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A documentary exploring the world of the novelist Nakagami Kenji, who died young in 1992. Nakagami was the chronicler of the seaside town of Shingu. Many of Nakagami's stories are set in a specific alley in Shingu, an alley that has now gone, but that lives on in the fiction of Nakagami, and also on the celluloid Nakagami filmed before its demolition. Filmmaker Izuchi Kisshu goes in search of what is left of Nakagami's alley. The specific mood of the small harbour town, however, turns out to be difficult to find. Kisshu reads the books of Nakagami out loud at the locations where they are set, but it is still difficult to invoke the magic. Time and again, we return to the film images made by Nakagami, while Kisshu seems to search in vain in the present
