3 editions published in 1648 in Spanish and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

English:  Francisco de Quevedo (1580-1645) is one of the most prominent authors of the history of Spanish literature. Especially known for his poetry but also author of novels and plays, his style is characterized by what became known as "conceptismo" as opposed to the "culteranismo" of his lifetime "rival" in every aspect, Luis de Góngora. José Antonio González de Salas, a friend of Francisco de Quevedo, concerned about collecting his works, took the poems of the poet to print in 1648, in an edition he himself commented. It was González de Salas who conceived and justified the images; six muses plus the frontispiece, etched using a strong acid and burin, that would illustrate the first edition. González de Salas died in 1651 and could not contemplate the three remaining muses. The muses, drawn by Alonso Cano, were engraved by Juan de Noort and Herman Panneels, a Dutchman and Fleming based in Madrid, and one by Alonso Cano himself. They would have to wait until 1670 to be able to read all the poems published in Las tres musas últimas castellanas (The last three Castilian muses). Second part of the Parnaso español (Spanish Parnassus), an edition that included poems that were not written by Quevedo
