"The series focuses on the fictional Benton family, beginning with Abraham Benton, a mixed-blood Cherokee Indian. His pre-Trail of Tears immigration to Indian Territory in the mid-1830s begins a saga spanning six generations of Bentons. The family bears witness to more than 150 years of Oklahoma history, including Indian settlements during the Civil War, the Land Run of 89, statehood, the 1920s oil boom, the Dust Bowl and beyond. Each episode of Oklahoma Passage is woven together by Miz Hannah, the matriarch of the Benton family. Although the Bentons are fictional, the historical events and figures they encounter are factual. Miz Hannah is a remarkable woman who was once an aviatrix and barn-stormer and friend of both Wiley Post and Will Rogers"--OETA website

We have capture : Tom Stafford and the space race by Thomas P Stafford ( Book )

What an amazing career. Tom Stafford attained the highest speed ever reached by a test pilot (28,547 mph), carried a cosmonaut's coffin with Soviet Secretary Leonid Brezhnev, led the team that designed the sequence of missions leading to the original lunar landing, and drafted the original specifications for the B-2 stealth bomber on a piece of hotel stationery. But his crowning achievement was surely his role as America's unofficial space ambassador to the Soviet Union during the darkest days of the Cold War. In this lively memoir written with Michael Cassutt, Stafford begins by recounting his early successes as a test pilot, Gemini and Apollo astronaut, and USAF general. As President Nixon's stand-in at the 1971 Soviet funeral for three cosmonauts, he opened the door to the possibility of cooperation in space between Russians and Americans. Stafford's Apollo-Soyuz team was the first group of Americans to work at the cosmonaut training center, and also the first to visit Baikonur, the top-secret Soviet launch center, in 1974. His 17 July 1975 "handshake in space" with Soviet commander Alexei Leonov (who became a lifelong friend) proved to the world that the two opposing countries could indeed work successfully together. Stafford has continued in this leadership role right up to the present, participating in designing and evaluating the Space Shuttle, Mir, and the International Space Station. He is truly an American hero who personifies the broadest spirit of exploration and cooperation

T-33A performance evaluation by W. G Schweikhard ( Book )
1 edition published in 1961 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The T-33A is a tandem two place single engine turbojet powered aircraft which is used as a basic trainer and as a combat readiness trainer throughout the Air Force. Indications were that performance data as presented in the Flight Manual was not accurate. Aircraft engines in service presumably suffered thrust deterioration as a result of many years of service. Thus the purpose of this test was to evaluate the performance of a representative T-33A aircraft with an average thrust engine and to determine the cuase for the variation in performance between aircraft. Test results show a 10 percent variation in installed thrust which could cause even larger percentage variations in take-off and climb performance. The cruise and endurance performance in relatively unaffected by the thrust variations and engine life. The greatest cause of thrust variation is not attributed to the deterioration of the engine with service life, but rather, to the broad thrust limits allowed after overhaul of the engine and to variations of trim rpm in flight
C-141A Pitot-Static System Calibration Tests ( Book )
1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The flight test program consisted of six C-141A/T-38A pacer flights. On flight 2, a series of tower fly-by points were also accomplished. Prior to each flight a ground calibration of the aircraft's pitot-static systems was performed (Appendix B). Each of the six pacer flights consisted of 30,000 and 20,000 feet (MSL), cruise configuration and 10,000 feet (MSL) takeoff and landing configuration points. On flight 5, adverse weather conditions prohibited flight operations at 10,000 feet. The T-38A pacer position and alignment, detailed in figure A1, enabled the pacer pilot to perceive small airspeed and altitude changes, while maintaining a position outside the C-141A pressure wave

AFSC T-33A PERFORMANCE EVALUATION ( Book )
1 edition published in 1961 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
Research is reported on the performance test of a representative T-33A aircraft with an average thrust engine to determine the cause for the variation in performance between aircraft. For comparison purposes additional tests were performed on an aircraft having a low thrust engine. With a few exceptions the test and Flight Manual performance data compare favorably for the representative aircraft tested. The greatest cause of thrust variation is not attributed to the deterioration of the engine with service life, but rather, to the broad thrust limits allowed after overhaul of the engine and to variations of trim rpm in flight. Low exhaust gas temperatures (below 685 degrees C) may indicate a low thrust engine; however, positive correlation of this point was not established. As a result of the qualitative investigation, it is recommended that the sideslip restrictions for the aircraft with travel pod installed be the same as for the aircraft with tip tanks installed.
