Gangs and youth subcultures : international explorations by Kayleen M Hazlehurst( )

13 editions published between 1998 and 2018 in English and held by 999 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Despite nearly a century of scholarly inquiry into street gangs and youth subcultures, no single work systematically reflects on comparative international experiences with gangs. Gangs and Youth Subcultures takes up this challenge." "Kayleen Hazlehurst and Cameron Hazlehurst argue that theories of gang behavior in immigrant communities and the influence of transnational crime syndicates are better tested in more than one host society. Similar phenomena would be better understood if placed in a comparative context. To this purpose, the editors assembled expert scholars and policy advisers from North America, Europe, South Africa, and Australasia. Gangs and Youth Subcultures lays the ground-work for an explanation of why gangs continue to grow in strength and influence, and why they have spread to remote locations." "This book will interest scholars and teachers of criminology and sociology, justice system administrators, as well as law enforcement officers and youth workers internationally."--Jacket
Ten journeys to Cameron's farm : an Australian tragedy by Cameron Hazlehurst( )

11 editions published between 2008 and 2015 in English and held by 679 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Ten Journeys to Camerons Farm tells the lives of the ten men who perished in Duncan Camerons Canberra property on 13 August 1940: three Cabinet ministers, the Chief of the General Staff, two senior staff members, and the RAAF crew of four. The inquiries into the accident, and the aftermath for the Air Force, government, and bereaved families are examined. Controversial allegations are probed: did the pilot F/Lt Bob Hitchcock cause the crash or was the Minister for Air Jim Fairbairn at the controls?

A guide to the papers of British cabinet ministers, 1900-1964 by Cameron Hazlehurst( Book )

18 editions published between 1966 and 1997 in English and held by 461 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A Guide to the Papers of British Cabinet Ministers 19001964 is the revised and expanded edition of a volume first published by The Royal Historical Society in 1974. Its aim is to provide up-to-date information on the papers of 323 ministers in the first edition and include all Cabinet ministers (or those who held positions included in a Cabinet) until the resignation of Sir Alec Douglas-Home as Prime Minister in 1964. Thus the scope of this edition has increased from the 323 ministers in the first Guide to 384, and therefore incorporates those who held relevant positions in the Churchill, Eden, Macmillan and Home governments. Information is provided on 60 'new' ministers and the previously omitted Lord Stanley. This Guide therefore is a major research tool and a source of information on personal papers, often in private hands, of people who played major roles in twentieth-century political life

The People's Rights, 1910 by Winston Churchill( )

1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 450 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This inspiring collection of campaign speeches from the WWII-era British Prime Minister brings the great politician's work to life. Legendary politician and military strategist Sir Winston Churchill was a master not only of the battlefield, but of the page and the podium. Over the course of forty books and countless speeches, broadcasts, news items and more, he addressed a country at war and at peace, thrilling with victory but uneasy with its shifting role in global politics. In 1953, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for "his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values." During his lifetime, he enthralled readers and brought crowds roaring to their feet; in the years since his death, his masterful writing has inspired generations of eager history buffs. In 1904, Sir Winston Churchill crossed a gaping political divide to join the Liberal Party. Conservatives saw him as a traitor to his former political party; liberals, as a strong champion for progressive views. This comprehensive collection was originally published in 1909, as part of Churchill's campaign efforts to support a Liberal budget rejected by the House of Lords. It contains his impassioned speeches delivered during a nine-day campaign, offering scathing criticism of the House of Lords' decision and supporting causes such as free trade. Ultimately, Churchill's efforts contributed to a Liberal majority and successful budget passage. It offers the modern reader a revealing glimpse into a pivotal moment in Britain's political history
