"La dernière décennie du XXe siècle a vu la redécouverte de la gwerz, chant breton a capella venu de la nuit des temps celtiques avec ses mélodies tristes. Les principaux artisans de sa renaissance, qui sont aussi ses trois interprêtes les plus connus aujourd'hui, nous font partager leur passion : Denez Prigent, Erik Marchand et Yann Fanch Kemener. Les gwerz jettent un éclairage humain et touchant sur l'histoire bretonne. Elles nous font partager les peines et les rêves du petit peuple d'autrefois : voyages, naufrages, amours, trahisons ... Trois voix, trois sensibilités différentes, décrivent des traditions variées, transmises ici par les femmes, là plutôt par les hommes, en breton de la côte ou de l'intérieur, reflétant les paysages où elles ont pris naissance ; à Roskoff et Saint Pol de Léon, près de la mer, Denez Prigent chante fort pour couvrir le vent et les vagues. Chacun avec ses mots, les trois chanteurs se retrouvent sur une constatation commune : chanter la gwerz lave des angoisses, de la peur de la mort, vous éloigne du réel et vous amène "vers autre chose"
