15 editions published in 2014 in English and German and held by 169 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The American-born Dorothy Iannone occupies a distinct place as an artist in the second half of the twentieth century. Her oeuvre includes painting, visual narrative, autobiographical texts, and films. Since the 1960s she has been seen as a pioneering spirit against censorship, and one who supports free love and autonomous female sexuality. This retrospective catalogue illustrates the intermediality and radical subjectivty of this unique artistic opus, and aims to highlight the innovative energy of Dorothy Iannone's art, revealing the art historical implications of her imagery. The catalogue contains around two hundred illustrations of her works as wll as numerous photographs from the artists' personal archive, which are published here for the first time."
Visionäre der Moderne = Modern visionaries : Paul Scheerbart, Bruno Taut, Paul Goesch( Book )

10 editions published in 2016 in English and German and held by 155 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Exhibition: Berlinische Galerie, Berlin, Germany (15.04-31.10.2016)

Interieur, exterieur : living in art : from romantic interior painting to the home design of the future by exterieur Interieur( Book )

8 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 140 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Contemporary artist Andrea Zittel's A-Z Enterprise is an investigation into all aspects of daily life--including shelter, furniture and clothing, which she designs. Architect Marcel Breuer said of his 1966 Modern design for New York's Whitney Museum, "It should transform the vitality of the street into the sincerity and profundity of art." Charting the reciprocal relationship between art and design, this fascinating volume features paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, videos, digital animations, interiors and furniture by 68 artists, designers and architects, including Caspar David Friedrich, Henry van de Velde, Edvard Munch, Henri Matisse, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Zaha Hadid, Erwan Bouroullec and Tobias Rehberger. It highlights a trend, from Romanticism through the present, that has artists functioning as designers or architects while architects and designers are influenced by art."--Jacket
Jeanne Mammen : the observer : retrospective 1910-1975 by Jeanne Mammen( Book )

11 editions published in 2017 in English and German and held by 133 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Berlin painter and graphic artist Jeanne Mammen is one of the most unusual and colourful figures of recent German art history. Her complete oeuvre and the breaks with tradition that it reveals reflect and comment in an entertaining, critical way on the political and aesthetic upheavals of the last century. Mammen's art is highly regarded in specialist circles far beyond the boundaries of Berlin and Germany. This monograph presents an overview of her life's work to a broader public and not only leads viewers deep into the 1920s and 1930s, but also opens up surprising new perspectives on an outstanding artist of classic Modernism

Eberhard Havekost : Harmonie : Bilder = paintings : 2000-2005 by Eberhard Havekost( Book )

10 editions published in 2005 in German and English and held by 103 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"What is it that makes the paintings of Eberhard Havekost, who was born in Dresden in 1967, so disquieting, so ambiguous? Photographic perspectives with large-format brushwork, and controlled distortion with a sense of precise sectioning are part of it. Yet most of all, it is a sort of impenetrability, which continually forces the gaze used to viewing painting - the lingering gaze - to slip and slide over the surfaces. Havekost often appropriates media images from television and newspapers in his paintings, and, most recently, also adapts motifs from his own photographs, which he then manipulates with the aid of a computer. However, unlike Gerhard Richter, Havekost is not involved in a painter's skeptical attempt to increase the value of the photographic subject, but with media's skeptical way of dealing with the photograph as a document." "This publication, which includes essays by Susanne Kohler, Annelie Lutgens, and Ludwig Seyfarth, is the first to collect Eberhard Havekost's paintings from the last seven years, whose central themes are the figure and housing, windows and facades, and "leisure-time vehicles.""--BOOK JACKET
Splendor and misery in the Weimar Republic by Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 102 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"From the glamour of the Golden Twenties to the depths of the dark side of a world undergoing rapid change - the penetrating content of works by more than 60 artists recreates the age of the Weimar Republic, big - city life and the entertainment scene as well as the consequences of the First World War and socially controversial topics such as prostitution, political struggle and social tensions. As the first German democracy, the Weimar Republic (1918 - 1933) is regarded as a time of crisis and transition - from the German Empire to the totalitarian regime of National Socialism. Numerous artists not only portrayed these years in their realistic representations, which are ironical and grotesque as well as critical - analytical; they also aimed to comment on the stat us quo and bring about social change. Works from Otto Dix and George Grosz via Conrad Felixmuller and Christian Schad to Dodo, Jeanne Mammen, Elfriede Lohse - Wachtler, famous artists and others waiting to be rediscovered, paint a multi - layered and political picture of the Weimar Republic."
