Series consists of reports submitted by the superintendent to the trustee meetings, providing information on the status and operations of the school. Trustee meetings were held quarterly until 1941, when monthly meetings began. Topics covered in the reports include school admissions, dismissals and deaths, financial statements, buildings, clinical and educational work, employees, farm production, accidents, visitors, and events of note. Lists of students include student number, hometown, and remarks on diagnosis and placement in school. Later files include reports from specific departments, with an emphasis on reports of medical research activities, as well as those from the Social Service, Traveling School, Dental and Clinical, and Volunteer Services departments. Subseries (2) consists of loose reports and receipts kept by the treasurer of the corporation (primarily Richard C. Humphreys), from 1879-1914. Documents vary over time, and include annual financial summaries, monthly lists of tuition and other payments, and fiscal year collections of vouchers comprising receipts, records of investments, cancelled checks, insurance and other bills, and expenses accounts for staff travel and field work (starting 1914). Also included are bills and contracts for various building projects, as well as for furnishing facilities at a school farm facility at Medfield in 1881, some on illustrated forms.
