Dante Gabriel Rossetti by Dante Gabriel Rossetti( Book )

23 editions published between 2003 and 2004 in English and Dutch and held by 886 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Dante Gabriel Rossetti was the central figure of the Pre-Raphaelites. Together with Hunt and Millais, he started the original Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and was the 'poetic inspiration' of the movement. His turbulent and romantic imagery has always beguiled and intrigued art-lovers." "This beautifully illustrated book, published to accompany the landmark Rossetti exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Walker in Liverpool, is the most thorough and up-to-date analysis of the life and career of this pivotal nineteenth-century English painter available today." "It reproduces all of his most famous works in glorious colour, and major sections are also devoted to Rossetti's subjects from Dante; his representations of artists and their models; his drawings of Elizabeth Siddal; the medievalizing watercolours of the late 1850s; his monumental decorative projects at Llandaff Cathedral and at the Oxford Union; and his contributions to the decorative arts in the form of book bindings and illustrations, stained glass, furniture and picture frames."--Jacket
The origins of l'art nouveau : the Bing empire( Book )

10 editions published between 2004 and 2005 in English and held by 571 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"It was on 26 December 1895 that art dealer Siegfried Bing (1838-1905) opened the doors of his Paris shop L'Art Nouveau. This long-awaited event represented the birth of a new movement in art." "The Origins of L'Art Nouveau is more than a monograph on Siegfried Bing, his shop and his national and international influence. It also analyses the development of Art Nouveau, and explores the fusion of applied and fine art into an all-embracing new stylistic form. Numerous previously unpublished photographs and works of art further elucidate the narrative."--Jacket

Winter Tales: Depictions of Winter in European Art from Bruegel to Beuys. An exhibition organized by the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Kunsthaus Zurich Guest curator: Ronald de Leeuw, Amsterdam ... Over thirty important museums, among them the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the National Gallery and the Tate in London, the Staatliche Museen in Berlin, and our partner the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam have lent outstanding works. Three years in the making, the exhibition also brings together important loans from Munich, Strasbourg, Rotterdam, Dresden, Zurich, Philadelphia, Darmstadt, Edinburgh, Cologne, The Hague, New York, Gent, Weimar and Boston. However, the unique focal point of the exhibition in Vienna is in the Picture Gallery of the Kunsthistorisches Museum: Pieter Bruegel the elder's painting Hunters in the Snow, perhaps the most famous depiction of winter in European art. But the exhibition also includes paintings by Jacob van Ruisdael, Hendrick Avercamp, Jan van Goyen, Aert van der Neer, Peter Paul Rubens, Jan Steen, Jacob Jordaens, William Turner, Francisco de Goya, Caspar David Friedrich, Gustave Courbet, Jean-François Millet, Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Vincent van Gogh, Giovanni Segantini, Edvard Munch, Joseph Beuys and Anselm Kiefer--from Press Release
