Een week later wordt de populaire communistische partijleider, Julien Lahaut, voor zijn deur doodgeschoten. Het is de belangrijkste politieke moord in de Belgische geschiedenis, maar ze wordt nooit opgehelderd. Wie heeft Lahaut vermoord? werpt een kritische blik op het gerechtelijk onderzoek en gaat op zoek naar nieuwe sporen. Zo vonden de auteurs in een archief een ‘vergeten’ document dat verwijst naar André Moyen, een spion die een anticommunistisch netwerk uitbouwde in het naoorlogse België. Het boek bijt zich vast in de levensloop van Moyen en zijn ondergronds netwerk. De auteurs komen een web van leugens en fouten in het gerechtelijk onderzoek op het spoor. Ze leggen de redenen bloot waarom de moord nooit werd opgelost en plaatsen die in de ruimere context van de geheime Koude Oorlog in België. Het CEGESOMA, het Studiecentrum Oorlog en Maatschappij, doet al sinds 2011 onderzoek naar de moord op Lahaut
