A young married couple--both actors--work in Cold War Berlin before the Wall is built. Agnes is on location in East Berlin, and Jochen, her husband, works at the Westend Theater in West Berlin. They hold diametrically opposed views on politics, art, and the responsibility of the individual to society. They have vehement arguments and their marriage is in danger of breaking up. This film portrays numerous figures of contemporary German cultural and political life. Also memorable in this film is documentary footage of the construction of Stalin Allee, the biggest boulevard built in East Berlin after WWII, soon to become a central locus of the popular uprising of June 17, 1953. The director depicts the tightening grip of Stalinism on East German cultural production at this time

Das Lied der Matrosen die deutsche Novemberrevolution 1918 by Kurt Maetzig( Visual )

3 editions published between 1999 and 2009 in German and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The Russian Revolution is finally triumphant in the Fall of 1917. As soldiers, the engineer Henne Lobke and the stoker Jens Kasten show solidarity with the Russians, eventually disarming their officers to stop the sinking of a Russian cargo ship. Back in Germany, the struggle continues. The dock-workers and sailors of Kiel call for a mass strike to demand the end of the war and the abdication of the Kaiser and his officers. At this point, the admiralty decides to launch the operation 'Nibelungen.' The entire German fleet is to be sent to battle the English in a suicide mission that would preserve German honor while crushing internal mutiny. The workers in uniform put aside their differences to stop this, however, as is the case with chief stoker August Lenz, the radio officer Ludwig Bartuscheck and the assistant to the vice-admiral Jupp Koenig. The film ends with the founding of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD)."--IMDb, accessed January 19, 2017

He then met the librettist Eugène Scribe (1791-1861), with whom he developed a working partnership, one of the most successful in musical history, that lasted until S
