La santé de CHOPIN est fragile. Ils sinstallent dans la Chartreuse de Valldemosa. Frédéric CHOPIN écrit à son ami Julien Fontana resté à Paris : << Je me trouve à Palma, sous des palmes, des cèdres, des aloès, des orangers, des citronniers, des figuiers et des grenadiers. Le ciel est en turquoise, la mer en lapis-lazuli, les montagnes en émeraudes.Ah ma vie, je vis davantageJe suis près de ce quil y a de plus beau au monde. Je me sens meilleur. >> Mais à peine installés, de nombreuses péripéties vont assombrir leur séjour et ils devront faire face à des difficultés majeures. Les rêves de CHOPIN vont vite tourner au cauchemar : << Un pays diabolique en ce qui concerne les Postes, les hommes et le confort. >>Cependant, il nen compose pas moins, sur lîle, la plupart de ses préludes, et SAND y écrit des pages célèbres et y termine son roman << Spiridion >>. A la suite de laltération de la santé de CHOPIN, le séjour à Majorque sinterrompra précipitamment le 1er juin 1839. Mais il sera le prélude à huit années de vie commune à Nohant. Un << hiver à Valldemosa >> relate ces moments intenses de vie, en compagnie de deux artistes
